About Ensemble Hesperi

Hesperi is a dynamic Early Music ensemble of RCM graduates, dedicated to showcasing the infectious charm and dazzling virtuosity of 18th-century music, especially rarely-heard music by Scottish composers. Over the past two years, Hesperi were selected as Britten Pears Young Artists; won a first prize at the London International Festival of Early Music and third prize at the International van Wassenaer Competition; and were the first Early Music group to be selected as City Music Foundation artists. A recent grant from the Continuo Foundation funded ‘From Caledonia to the Capital’, celebrating Scottish composers in eighteenth-century London. The ensemble has recorded for Classic FM and BBC Radio 3, and works to bring Early Music to new audiences through imaginative programming, outreach, and live-streamed concerts.

Hesperi presents the Battle of the Kings: a selection of baroque music from the courts of Louis XIV and Charles II by the finest musicians of the age.
