About Villiers Quartet

The Villiers Quartet has been praised for exquisite ensemble playing, for their commitment and virtuosity. They are recognised for the performance of British music with recordings including Elgar, Delius, Fricker, Alwyn and Matthews, and the world premiere of the rediscovered original version of the 1888 Delius quartet. In 2020 the Villiers launched several online projects: a course to study Beethoven’s quartets in-depth; mentoring secondary school pupils to compose for string quartet; and commissioning new works from British composers to celebrate their 10th Anniversary season. These activities complement their presentation of live masterclasses in the UK and abroad, and their appearances in BBC broadcasts.
